When legendary hunter Bob Rainsford is shipwrecked on the perilous reefs surrounding a mysterious island, he finds himself the guest of the reclusive and eccentric Count Zaroff. While he is very gracious at first, Zaroff eventually forces Rainsford and two other shipwreck survivors, brother and sister Eve and Martin Towbridge, to participate in a sadistic game of cat and mouse in which they are the prey and he is the hunter.

I found it very entertaining! Great cast! Nice style! Shot at same time and same cast and crew as King Kong. Reportedly King Kong was shot in the day and The Most Dangerous Game shot at Night. Slight difference in director each having two directors but one of the 2 directed both. If you haven’t seen it check it out!
Hard Target, Turkey Shoot, Deadly Prey, Mindhunters and Surviving the Game are just a few examples of movies we wouldn't have without Richard Connell's short story and the 1932 movie adapted from it, The Most Dangerous Game. A story of when the hunter, becomes the hunted.
The action is fantastic. A boat sinking, a nice zoom shot of a hunt and dogs on the prowl are all light years ahead of their time. I look at this movie and think what an awesome blueprint it is for the modern action horror survivalist movie. I love the shark scene. But, I do wonder if it's stock footage from another movie?
The villain is loco. He's basically a crazy communist out to rule…
if you watched the princess bride and wished the whole movie was just the fire swamp and the pit of despair scenes then this is the movie for you.

With barely over an hour runtime, The Most Dangerous Game is about a wealthy hunter with an addiction to killing for sport. So he gets ships to crash near his island so he can force the survivors who make it to shore to be his prey.

Highly entertaining adaptation of Richard Connell's 1924 short story of the same name. Variations of the story, man hunting man for sport, have been done over the last 82 years and it most certainly will be done again. In fact most people think that "The Most Dangerous Game" is a saying instead of the title of a story.
First you have leading man Joel McCrea in his element as the handsome man of action there to save any damsels that might need saving. You can't get much better for a leading lady in 1932 then Fay Wray…

I would have been down for a little more hunting and a little less talky talky but The Most Dangerous Game is a really fun film with great characters and a lot of charm. Humans hunting humans for sport is a fun topic and this does it with a lot of old timey drama. The third act is fantastic but the star is Leslie Banks, who chews up the scenery as Count Zaroff.
Recommended.
100-word review: Shot on the same jungle sets as King Kong, and starring the same lead actress (Fay Wray), Ernest B. Schoedsack's second-most-famous horror picture The Most Dangerous Game — that isn't Truth or Dare — is undersold when described as (merely) 'fast-paced', because this one-hour adventure ends as quickly as it begins, being comprised of not a thing more than absolutely necessary to bring the short story to life. It itself may be anti-hunting in theme, the film, together with Richard Connell' short story, clearly inspired plenty of man-hunt-themed films, perhaps most notably the Predator franchise.

im on record as a dangerous game hater and was skeptical of a one shot on king kong sets with half the cast and no monsters but yknow this is actually pretty cool--noble johnson plays a russian! another good rec from the zodiac
